Hampton Rovers plans to field two Under 19 teams in 2017 following strong numbers at pre-season training. The club is now on the hunt for a development coach to lead the second side.
The club has seen near-record U19 players in attendance at pre-season training in what is a young list across the senior sides. The atmosphere at training has been fantastic with a great feeling amongst the group and an eagerness to attack the 2017 season running.
A meeting was held last week to get an indication and with further players committing since, the club has made the decision to field two U19 teams in the VAFA this year. It’ll be the first time the club has fielded two teams in the age group since 1999.
John Cesario was previously confirmed as 2017 coach following four great years in charge. The club is now accepting applications for the role of development coach – leading the second U19 side. Applications and expressions of interest should be emailed to President Steve Anderson: email@example.com or call 0413 246 578 for further information.
It’s anticipated the second U19s side will play home games prior to the firsts U19 side, with games commencing at 11:40am on Saturday’s. The club will field five teams in VAFA in 2017: Seniors, Reserves, Under 19, Under (2) and Senior Women’s. It appears unlikely the club will also field a Thirds team in 2017.
