Another huge tally raised for Salvo's

Hampton Rovers Football Club raised over $16,000 for the Salvation Army during last weekend’s Red Shield Appear - a record tally for the club.

The club has now raised a staggering $165,000 for the Salvo’s over the past 17 years.

It’s a whole-club contribution to the community with players from both the seniors and juniors participating. The intersections of Hampton St & South Rd and Bluff Rd & South Rd had Rovers Senior Women’s players rattling tins on Saturday and Senior and U19 players on Sunday. While U8-U12 players door-knocked in the Hampton area on Sunday.

A credit to everyone involved, especially given the miserable weather. The club thanks everyone who contributed.

Organiser Bill Mirabito said they were one of a few sports clubs to host Salvos fundraisers on a big scale.

“The footy club got started on the appeal because we wanted our kids to learn it isn’t that hard to give a few hours to help those less fortunate,” Mr Mirabito said.

“We teach kids not just about playing good footy, we also teach them to be good citizens.”

A presentation will be made at this Saturday’s Senior Home Game Luncheon and we welcome everyone to come along – details & bookings here >
