Another huge tally raised for Salvo's

Hampton Rovers Football Club raised over $16,000 for the Salvation Army during last weekend’s Red Shield Appear - a record tally for the club.

The club has now raised a staggering $165,000 for the Salvo’s over the past 17 years.

It’s a whole-club contribution to the community with players from both the seniors and juniors participating. The intersections of Hampton St & South Rd and Bluff Rd & South Rd had Rovers Senior Women’s players rattling tins on Saturday and Senior and U19 players on Sunday. While U8-U12 players door-knocked in the Hampton area on Sunday.

A credit to everyone involved, especially given the miserable weather. The club thanks everyone who contributed.

Organiser Bill Mirabito said they were one of a few sports clubs to host Salvos fundraisers on a big scale.

“The footy club got started on the appeal because we wanted our kids to learn it isn’t that hard to give a few hours to help those less fortunate,” Mr Mirabito said.

“We teach kids not just about playing good footy, we also teach them to be good citizens.”

The Hampton Rovers travel to Gordon Barnard Reserve to face Old Camberwell in round 16 action on Saturday.

Rovers knock over Haileybury

Hampton Rovers produced their best performance of the year with a dominant 33-point victory over second-placed Old Haileybury at Boss James Reserve on Saturday. The Reserves also had a strong win.
