It’s a Super Sunday of Hampton Rovers footy at Elsternwick Park this weekend, with the Seniors v Parkdale & Reserves v Ajax in Preliminary Finals, and the U19s v St Bernards first up in the Division 1 Grand Final.
It’s set to be a huge day for the club and we’re encouraging Hampton Rovers supporters to get along in big numbers to cheer on the green & gold for all three games at VAFA HQ.
First up at 9:20am, the Rovers Under 19’s, who qualified first for the Grand Final after defeating St Bernard’s in the 2nd Semi, will be looking for a repeat performance against the same team in the season decider. The boys have been in great form in what is the second-highest division of U19 footy in the VAFA. Make sure you get along early to cheer on Caggs’ young Rovers!
Then at 11:50am, the Reserves face Ajax in the Preliminary Final. The Rovers have finished the season strong with good form of late and defeated Old Carey with a late goal last week at the same venue.
At 2:30pm, it’s the Seniors up against Parkdale Vultures in the Premier C Men’s Preliminary Final in what’s shaping up to be a huge game of footy. The Rovers lost their first game in 13 matches last week going down to Old Carey in the 2nd Semi and will be looking to bounce back against the Vultures on Sunday, who defeated Ajax in the 1st Semi last weekend.
While the Rovers have defeated Parkdale by 30-odd points on both occasions they’ve met this season, finals is a different ball game, with everything on the line. The winner will proceed to the Grand Final and earn promotion to Premier B.
Ticketing details can be found on the VAFA website here – they can be pre-purchased online or at the gate on the day. Entry to Elsternwick Park is via Glen Huntly Road. Limited parking is available inside the venue for $5. The Bar will be open in the upstairs social room following the senior game for players and spectators to enjoy a drink.
For those unable to make it to the game, the seniors match will be live streamed on the Rovers and VAFA websites.
All three games promise to be cracking contests. Get along to Elsternwick Park to show your support! You can also get live scores via PlayHQ and updates via Rovers Instagram & Facebook stories.
