Hampton Rovers take on Old Carey in the 2024 VAFA Premier C Grand Final this Saturday at Sandringham’s Trevor Barker Oval.
We’re encouraging all Rovers supporters to get along to the ground in big numbers wearing green and gold and the club looks to secure its first senior premiership since 2014. See below for all the match day details.
Both Hampton and Old Carey had standout regular seasons, finishing with a 16-2 record. During the season it was 1-1 between the two sides, before the Panthers ran out 19-point winners with three goals in time-on to advance to the Grand Final first. The Rovers then defeated Parkdale in the Preliminary Final in what was a classic victory on Sunday.
After two finals games at Elsternwick Park, the action moves to Trevor Barker Oval for the Grand Final this Saturday, there the Rovers have played their home games in 2024 due to the redevelopment of Boss James Reserve. Although when the two teams last met at the same venue, it was the Panthers who ran out 12-point winners, before the Rovers defeated them by 47 points on their turf.
The club has already enjoyed on field success in the senior ranks this season. Four of five senior teams qualified for the finals, the Senior Women went down in the Grand Final, the Reserves had a narrow loss in the Prelim last week, while the Under 19’s defeated St Bernard’s in the Division 1 Grand Final on Sunday. Now it’s down to the final game of the season.
The action gets underway at 2:40pm on Saturday at Trevor Barker Oval. The Premier C Reserves match between Parkdale and Ajax will precede the main game. The Rovers will be based in the Sandringham Zebras rooms at the southern end of the ground.
Tickets can be pre-purchased through INTIX or available at the gate ($17 adults, $12 concession, children U12 free).
While we’d love to see all Rovers supporters at the ground showing their support, if you cannot get along, you can watch all the action on the live stream, which will include commentary and a full production. Live from 2:30pm.
150 people will be in attendance at the Match Day Function in the Sandy by the Bay function centre from 12-2pm, with incredible support with all tickets snapped up in six hours on Tuesday. The bar will be open to the public following the function, through until 5:15pm.
The club invites all supporters to the Hampton RSL (Holyrood Street, Hampton) following the match. Bistro open until 8:30pm, live band from 8pm.
